Usually several appointments over a few weeks rather than a single visit. Impressions, a try-in stage to check fit and appearance, and then fitting, followed by one or two adjustment visits once you have worn them for a while. We will give you a timeline specific to your situation at the consultation.
A well-fitting denture should stay put for normal eating and speaking, though most people need a few weeks of practice before it feels automatic. If yours moves noticeably, that usually means the fit needs adjusting or the ridge underneath has changed, both of which we can address.
Clean them daily over a folded towel or a basin of water, so a drop does not crack them. Use a denture brush and a cleaner made for the purpose rather than regular toothpaste. Rinse after meals, and unless we have told you otherwise, leave them out overnight so the gum tissue gets a rest.
Dentures are frequently covered at least in part. We offer direct billing and can submit your claim electronically, and our fees follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide. If you qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan we bill Sun Life directly, though some denture work needs pre-approval, which we handle before starting.
